I'm back!
yay! After about 21 hours I'm safely back. It's strange to be back after 4 months - let me tell you. I'm trying to stay up so I could go to sleep at a sane hour and switch to the US time.
One side effect from being away for so long - I've just been trying to explain something to ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) avacon in Russian and didn't realize that until he asked me to "say it in English, please" (he even managed to say it in Russian :))) )
Looking forward to seeing those of you who are here soon.

Would any of you have a microphone I can try out?
I want to volunteer for Librivox by reading (and recording) books. The problem I'm having right now is that I'm trying to record text with my microphone (it's a Logitech with headphones and I believe it's an analog kind, i.e., it doesn't have a USB connector) and I'm getting annoying noise that is some kind of the interference I'd like to get rid of.
I wonder if the microphone I'm using is a problem and I was wondering if anyone has a mic I can try out (preferably a USB kind)...

Finally I'm posting a book list too...

I got 38/100... Not sure why some of these are on the list, but I bet there are lots of different lists... "For Whom the Bell Tolls" should be on the list, I think...
Also, not a lot of the books on the list that I haven't read I want to read, less than I expected. Interestingly, of the ones I did read a lot are my absolute favorites - like Anna Karenina, Crime and Punishment and Lord of the Rings...

Мне кажется, что чем старше я становлюсь, тем более пронзительные чувства вызывает у меня этот праздник. Это и слезы на глазах, и огромное чувство благодарности, что защитили, заслонили собой, чтобы я могла жить и учиться и радоваться этой жизни...

Thoughts about house stuff and gardening...
I should plant my tomatoes soon... Part of the reason I haven't done it yet is that I'm not sure where I'll put them this year. Our landlady is reorganizing the backyard and right now a few cars are parked there, so it isn't a safe/healthy place to put tomatoes. As for the veggie bed I made last year on the side of the house, right now the trash cans are being stored in the back of the house and brought out on trash days alongside the house with the veggie bed (and since the path is very narrow you HAVE to drag them on the veggie bed... ) I hope at some point we will be able to bring them out by means of driveway, but right now there's always someone parked in the driveway. And on our porches there isn't enough sun for tomatoes... Not sure what to do about all this...

Live raccoon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh My God!!!! I saw a live raccoon!!!!!!!!!!!! It was sitting on our sidewalk - a real one, and SO cute! I don't think I ever saw a live raccoon and so close before! I didn't even think they live here. I went upstairs to get my camera but when I came back it was gone :( Now I'm afraid no one would believe me.... But I'm still very excited! :)))

what a beautiful day!
it's so nice and warm out today... all I could think while walking to school was that my tomatoes could have been very happy, but alas, I have picked them up last week because I was afraid they will freeze... Oh well... Thought, as avacon correctly pointed out, now I don't have to stress that the temperature will drop all of a sudden and they will go bad. :) Now they are safely stored in the paper bags and are slowly turning red....
I can say I'm overall satisfied with my whole tomatoes adventure. They taste very good too! :)

what a story! ...
I especially liked:"...Death was sometimes an unfortunate side effect..." reminds me of the descriptions of drugs' side effects... sometimes they are more severe than the symptoms that the drugs are trying to cure... luckily i'm not a pigeon...

Tomatoes...
I'm worried about my tomatoes. I'm reluctant to pick them up, since they're still green, but it's getting colder and colder and I'm afraid that they'll go bad on the plants if I don't pick them up on time. I started seeing nightmares about this.... Grrrr....
